About us
We are the 9A class of Pielisjoki School. Our class came up with the idea of studying recycling because we realized how important recycling is for the environment. We want to understand better how different people and households recycle and what challenges they face. We are doing this in collaboration with Puhas Oy.
We started conducting surveys last spring, and now we’ve completed our second survey. We noticed that most households have good recycling practices, but it is still unfamiliar to a large portion of people. For example, sorting plastics might be incomplete, and some families are unsure where to take certain materials. One important observation was that even though recycling bins are available, many people are not interested in using them.
To improve recycling in households and schools, it would be important to increase awareness and provide more guidance. It would also help if recycling points were even more accessible and clearly marked. We will present our survey in Slovenia in spring 2025.
Recycling is crucial for protecting the environment and conserving natural resources. The results from our previous survey show that recycling is familiar to many, but increasing awareness could improve its effectiveness. We want to ensure everyone has the opportunity to live in a clean environment, both now and in the future. We hope that through this survey, more people will become interested in recycling.
